Íshestar and Sörli Riding School offer fun summer riding courses.
Our goal is for children to get to know the Icelandic horse, learn the basics of riding, and have fun.
In our courses, there is only one student per horse. We emphasize plenty of interaction with the horses and often go on enjoyable riding trips. At our riding school, there is no theoretical teaching; instead, practical learning takes place through play and working with the horses.
At the end of the course, students receive a certificate with a photo of themselves and their horse.
Each course lasts one week and consists of 4–5 days (with days off on June 17th and Whit Monday).
We also offer Hestafjör, a week-long course for ages 11–16.
There will be a strong emphasis on taking students on long and enjoyable riding tours around the area. The group will be divided by ability so that everyone can ride at a pace they are comfortable with. Beginners will start at a slower pace and gradually increase speed as they gain confidence. The more experienced group is expected to go on rides including up to Helgafell and practice all gaits except the flying pace.

Please note that a requirement is that children must have completed the first grade of primary school.
Included: Comfortable and well-trained riding horses, safety helmet, and riding gear.
