Experience the best of Icelandic nature with our Horses and Puffins tour. This exciting adventure combines a boat ride to a puffin island, which is well known for its colorful bird life, and a horseback riding experience surrounded by stunning nature. The day begins with the Puffin Watching tour, which has been a popular attraction for over 20 years! On the boat ride out from the old harbor in Reykjavik, you will have the opportunity to view Reykjavik city from the seaside and hear about the buildings and islands that can be seen along the way. The boat, the Old Skuli, is specially designed to take us as close to the islands as possible.
Once we arrive at the puffin Island, Akurey, our guide will share fun facts and stories about the puffins and other wildlife that can be seen during the tour. You get to observe the Atlantic puffin in its natural habitat, known for its bright and colorful beak. Believe it or not, there are around 30,000 puffins nesting there.
Following the puffin tour, it is time to commence our horse-riding adventure, where you will be introduced to our friendly horses and specially trained guides. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, our excellent riding paths offer a unique experience to explore the Icelandic horse while enjoying the diverse landscape of ancient moss-covered lava and mountain views.

We reccomend that you bring warm gloves and a thin hat that can fit under the riding helmet. Included in the price is that you can borrow a helmet, warm overall or rain coat and rain pants as well as rubber boots.
Maximum weight for a rider is 110kg/242lb.
Riding clothes. Riding gear (riding trousers, jackets, etc.) needs to be washed (40°C) or dry cleaned. Items which can not be washed or dry cleaned (riding boots, riding hats) need to be cleaned and disinfected at least five days prior to arriving in Iceland. The Icelandic Veterinary Authority recommends the broad-spectrum disinfectant Virkon S for disinfection. Used riding gloves, whips, saddles, bridles, chaps and other used leather gear may not be brought into the country.
Please understand that these precautions are necessary because there are no contagious animal diseases in Iceland. Horses are not vaccinated and are therefore susceptible to infectious agents from abroad. Please help us to protect Iceland’s fragile nature! We recommend booking a couple of days in advance just to make sure that we have free spaces on the day you wish to arrive.
Usually, you will be back at your hotel around an hour after the tour ends.
